SMAC Smart Couponing - How to Get Free Items

August 13, 2017 0 Comments
One of the certified Mamabilidad habits is to collect reward points. You can earn reward points from your loyalty cards. But are you aware, that you can get Instant Free Item when you swipe your SM Advantage Card to their Promo Coupon Machine?

Here's how we get ours...

Me and my husband had a quick grocery shopping the other night at around 8AM and we passed by this "Freebie Machine" (as we call it). As usual, he took out his Advantage Card, swiped it, and waited for our coupon to come out.

Our coupon for that night was...

You can always ask for assistance in case you get confused how the machine works. Some SM Supermarket/Hypermarket deploy aide(s) beside the machine, you just need to hand them your card.

Since we're always together whenever we shop, we agreed to share one card, so we can easily monitor our earned points.

Once you get your coupon, it will give you two chances of getting freebie (on some days, they push out even more!). You have to purchase particular items to redeem your rewards. For us, we could get a Free SM Bonus Facial Tissue 2Ply 70pulls Travel Pack if we purchase Close Up Toothpaste Red Hot 145ml 2pcs at 119php and/or 3pcs of 50ml Colgate Toothpaste Great Regular Flavor.

Both brands are OK but Close Up offered a better deal. Should you wish to double your freebie, you may, for as long as you purchase all the required items on your voucher/coupon.

Here's the Close Up deal:

2pcs of 95ml each was 99php while 2pcs of 145ml each was just 119php. 10php difference for each toothpaste for additional 50ml is totally not bad at all! Right? 😊 Yes, that's how you should do it, calculate everything that matters, 'coz every cent counts!

As soon as we reach the counter, husband took out his rewards card again and handed over to the cashier on duty. He informed the cashier that we would like to get a Free Facial Tissue and gave her the toothpaste and the coupon. She validated it and gave us our free item. Yay!

Try it too! You'll never know what freebie awaits you the next time you do your grocery shopping chore!

Thoughts Before You Buy Baby Stuff

August 04, 2017 0 Comments
Knowing that you're going to be a mom or a dad can really be overwhelming. You get excited to see your baby's movements, hear his/her heartbeat, and check his/her gender. The next thing you'll probably be doing is buying baby stuff like crib, strollers, and the likes. Like any other commodities, prices may vary based on qualities and brands.

Canvassing can really be of help. But, it is also wise to first check whether you need to buy a particular item or not. In this case, we would like to leave you something to think about:

Do you need to buy feeding bottles or are you going to breastfeed your baby? Today, buying baby bottles is no longer as easy as buying candies. You need to check if they are BPA Free and sturdy. Sizes and nipple types are also need to be considered. However, if you decided to breastfeed the baby, you need to assess yourself and see if you can effectively express milk without using pumps. If not, then there's another decision to make, manual or electric pump? Better make yourself familiar with their functions and weigh the advantages and disadvantages.

Next, are you going to use washable cloth diapers or do you need to start stocking disposable diapers?

Also, will the baby sleep beside you or in the crib? do you think pillows or bolsters set can be beneficial for your little one? Or perhaps a co-sleeper? What are the pros and cons?

I saw this picture posted online and I'm hoping this will help you decide:

We're not against buying baby stuff here, let me clear that one out, we just want every parent to be more "wais", especially those inexperienced ones.

Let us know your thoughts! :)

The Struggles of Saving

August 02, 2017 0 Comments

Many people ask question, "Why Can't I Save?". In order to find the answers to this, one must first understand the underlying causes. Can your salary sustain your needs? Do you need budgeting assistance? Are there ways to cut your weekly or monthly costs? Do you need part-time jobs to support your "extra expenses"?

When we say extra expenses, these are the unnecessary purchases and charges. To identify these expenses, make an inventory. List all your bags and shoes, sort your clothes, check your accessories and makeups, and all the other stuff you most likely spend on. That way, you will know how much you have and you can quantify your needs best.

Clothing is considered as basic necessity but, it becomes a financial burden if you buy clothes more than what you need. You might say, "I need a good dress for my office meeting next week!", but remember, you thought about it too the last time you had a meeting and you bought a nice dress. That dress might be as good as new or you might have forgotten the expensively good-looking pair of blouse and slacks you wore during your office presentation.

Next is to decide whether a designer bag can make you happy or a fat bank account. If you think overly spending on high class bags and shoes can make you enjoy life even more then this could not be the right article piece for you because we cannot help you until you realize the importance of saving money today and for the future.

The common reason why most people, if not all, buy high end accessories is for them to have something to show off. Your officemate got a latest, high-end phone last week and you don't want to be outshined, so you head on and used your credit card to get a new phone while still being under the contract of your current mobile provider. This will make your monthly bills pile up and can be one of the root causes of your unexplained high monthly obligations. Harsh, but true because it happens most of the time.

Each time you have an urge to purchase something, make a financial evaluation first. Do you really need it? Can you survive the next 48 hours without it? Will you be using the item for the next couple of months or will it start rotting in your closet next week once your happy-meter subsided?

Remember, there's a gap between self-deprivation and contentment. You cannot deprive yourself from things you cannot afford. Instead, be contented with what you currently have, set and faithfully follow your goals, the rewards will follow. Yes, treat them as a reward. It is better that way than worrying about your finances or worst, burying yourself to debts.
